2. The assessment is formal

3. The assessment is publicly available

SPECIFIC CRITERIA

Specific criteria for prioritising the assessment reports to be reviewed are proposed below.

On the basis of these additional criteria, participating countries having uploaded a high number of assessment reports in the Virtual Library may prioritise those assessments to be reviewed by means of the AoA Review Template according to their capacities in terms of human resources and time.

However, it is expected that for each participating country at least one assessment for each of the four themes of the AoA process (water resources, water resource management, green economy, resource efficiency) is reviewed or, alternatively, that all the four themes are covered by the assessment(s) selected for reviewing.

Guidance for prioritising:

  • give priority to recent assessments reports (i.e. published in the last 5 years, from 2005 onwards);
  • in case of regularly published reports, give priority to the most recent report;
  • give priority to assessment reports covering topics that are poorly addressed by other assessments, i.e. tackle the most comprehensive coverage of the topics under the four main themes;
  • give priority to assessment reports covering emerging issues within the topics/themes;
  • give priority to assessment reports covering geographical areas that are poorly covered by the other assessments, i.e. tackle the most possible comprehensive geographical coverage at national level, regional level and transboundary level;

Concerning water and water-related ecosystem, give priority to:

  • water assessments as part of wider SoE reports
  • state of water reports and water homepages
  • water topic assessments
  • water indicators
  • country water profiles

Concerning green economy, a similar approach to water related-ecosystem will be taken giving priority to:

  • green economy assessments as part of wider SoE reports
  • green economy homepages
  • green economy topic assessments
  • green economy indicators
  • economic chapters within SoE reports
