Launched in 2005 by the UN General Assembly (resolution 60/30), this was a pioneer activity aimed at building the foundations of a regular process for global reporting and assessment of the state of the world’s oceans.
“Europe’s Environment Assessment of Assessments” (EE-AoA) is a project which builds on this experience aimed at supporting the development of a sustainable regular process to keep the pan-European environment under continuous review. The EE-AoA adopts a similar modular and phased approach allowing for and building on input from various running activities or projects, in particular the EEA’s 2010 State and Outlook Report. Consequently, the results of the EE-AoA will not only support the development of an ongoing environment assessment process for the pan-European area but will be of direct relevance for the EEA and European Neighbourhood.
